First we have to understand the difference between the tone and the mood of a poem. The tone is the volume of the poem and the mood is the feeling. After reading both excerpts I can conclude the the tone and mood of both is calm with a mood of sorrow. These elements support the theme of each poem by making the reader empathize with the poem.
