The Boston Tea Party was a mercantile and political protest by Sons of Liberty in Boston on December 16, 1773. The sons of liberty disguised as American Indians and threw the chests of tea int the harbour.

They were protesting the British Parliament's Tea Act of 1773, it was passed to save the East India Company as it granted it a monopoly to sell tea in American colonies.

The tea party showed the British and the Parliament that they cold no longer use the colonies to advantage through unjust means. It started the violent part of the American revolution.
