A psychology class has been assigned an individual case study project as well as a group project. The members of the group will receive the same grade for the group project but will be graded separately for their individual projects. Drew, Ben, Donna, and Julia are members of one such group. Drew and Donna worked very hard on the group project. Ben and Julia, however, did not contribute much to the group project because they felt that Drew and Donna would manage to get good grades for the group project. They focused their efforts on their individual projects instead.

a)What is Ben and Julia's behavior an example of?
b)What is the definition of the term you provided in part "a" above?
c) What kind of team process loss is this an example of? Be sure to define this type of process loss.
d) Explain to this group 2 things they could do in the future to minimize the type of team process loss you described in part "c".

Answer :

Answer:a) Social loafing.

Explanation:B) social loafing refers to how a person tend to put less effort when they are working in a group, something the wouldn't do if they were working as individuals. This is due to diffusion of responsibility in which one person believes someone else will do it, someone else other than themselves.

c) Motivational loss this occurs when an individual doesn't feel motivated to work as hard as they would normally do. When people are put into groups they feel uncertain of how much they should contribute as a result they would put less work then they are actual capable of. This affect the quality of the work produced

d) To minimize motivation loss the team should delegate work for each member so that each person is clear on what is expected from them like breaking down the main topic into subtopics so that each person have their own part to do and without that part they will know that the work will not be completed , this will make everyone feels that they would be contributing to the success of the group.
