Justify your answer.

Answer :

The customer bought more sand than is needed to fill the sandbox.

Solution:

A toy company makes rectangular  sandboxes that measure 6 feet by 5 feet  by 1.2 feet

Find the volume of box

[tex]Volume = length \times width \times height\\\\Volume = 6 \times 5 \times 1.2\\\\Volume = 36\ feet^3[/tex]

A customer buys a sandbox  of 40 cubic feet of sand

We know that,

40 cubic feet > 36 cubic feet

Thus,

volume of sand > volume of rectangular  sandboxes

Therefore, the customer bought more sand than is needed to fill the sandbox.
