The Gallego flour Mills located in Ritchman, Virginia, it was a flour mill  established by Joseph Gallego around 1790s. The mills exported its flour in Europe and South America and earned its reputation by providing the finest quality. During the Civil War, the mill destroyed when the confederate tried to burn the place before leaving it to the Union. The picture became an iconic symbol of the fall for the South when Matthew Brady took it in 1865.
