Church played an essential role in the Medieval Period. Church dominated land in Europe with regulating laws and rules of the state and people in general. People were religious, as their life depended on the church teaching. Catholic Church became rich and powerful, as people gave 1/10th of their earnings in tithes. Churches performed a significant role in delivering peace and salvation to the people from their sins and suffering. People did not go out of their way to sin. Many churches and cathedral built during the Middle Ages.
