All the processes that form mountain ranges are known as orogeny, or orogenesis. Orogeny refers to a process during which the crust that covers our planet folds a bit and is compressed laterally in order to create these mountain ranges that can be found all over the Earth today. It is a process that takes a long time to finish, but the results are always magnificent.
