The best person to fight the slaveholder is Abraham Lincoln, according to Douglass.

Abraham Lincoln, after becoming president, issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863.  The proclamation called on the Union army to liberate all enslaved people in rebellious states.  He did not want the issue debated.

In the Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, Douglass described Mr. Freeland as "an educated Southern gentleman."   He was a decent man and treated his slaves humanely.  Despite this, Douglass noted that he would rather live in free land than work for Mr. Freeland to show the extent that he disdains slavery and its cruelty.

Thus, according to Frederick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln was the best person to fight the slaveholders because Lincoln grew up in a violence-prone environment like him.
